This course is designed for both complete beginners and also ideal for those who want to put down the guidebook and discover their own day walks and maybe follow their nose a little more with a map.
Getting to grips with the map, its scale, symbols and grid. Then using the map to navigate easy yet detailed terrain in the wilds. Following paths and tracks in often complicated yet not too remote places. Orientating the map, being able to take details from the map to the terrain and vice versa.
Checking features as we find them and the start of contour reading to build superb foundations for higher skilled navigation. Includes a basic though essential use of compass.
