Learn about precision navigation using 1:25,000 maps. Begin to measure distance on the ground to within a few metres with a stop watch or your own feet.
The course will look at the more advanced interpretation of contours e.g. re-entrants, spurs, ridges, shapes of slope etc.
Use compasses for better bearings and slick tactics. Enabling you to navigate sections of a route more successfully in challenging conditions.
With Britainâ€™s fickle weather or an unexpected event delaying your descent, these skills are an important asset, and are relatively simple to pick up with clever coaching and feed back from your instructor.
